Home

Here we are.  Home again.  Kiawah went by too fast...as usual.

Pictures will come later, when I get them from my sister and my parents.  We were terrible...again...about taking photos.  There is just too much fun stuff to do with 3 very fun little people to stop and take pictures.

We guessed that our kids' ages would make this a near perfect year.  We were nearly correct.

Highlights:

--No naps!  For the first time since having kids, we didn't need to scratch out time for naps.  And we filled our days from morning till night.  Lots of bike riding, beach surfing, and play time.  It was exhausting, but so so much fun.

--Beach!  Everyone loved the water and for the first few days everyone wanted to go out pretty deep.  Which was tiring and stressful for the adults.  But they were having such a good time, we couldn't exactly pull them out.  By the end of the week, high tide encouraged them to play in the sand more (less walking to get water).

--Biking!  We biked every day and visited places far enough away I haven't been since bringing babies to Kiawah.  Andrew was a trooper on his bike, Lily eventually embraced the tandom bike we stuck on the back of Jeff's, and Michael was in easy street riding behind with the whole carrier to himself.  It was...awesome.

--Crabbing!  This year we took a special excursion with a naturalist and a boat captain.   We took a lovely boat ride down a local creek (read: tidal river), threw some raw chicken parts on the end of a rope into the water, and voila!  Crabs.  The kids had a blast and we are certain that next year we can do it all by ourselves.

I'll do a post on each kids' vacation next!
