Ah, crap

Michael had his 1 month appointment today....and...he's not growing. Well, technically he is, but gaining 4 oz in 4 weeks just isn't good enough. To give you some perspective, Lily gained 2 pounds in the same 4 weeks.

So...we are going to start supplementing with formula. Blah. I seem to be repeating my mother's history...step 1: have a surprise pregnancy with the 3rd child step 2: Starve said 3rd child.

And of course the all important step 3: start feeding child and live happily ever after. ;)

I'm sorry. Maybe he'll sleep better and be a little more contented. Are you ok with it? I guess you don't have much choice in the matter. You do what you gotta do...which I suppose is something you get really good at doing by the time you're on #3.

By the way, please tell me when Andrew finally started sleeping through the night. I am fully expecting G to not sleep until he's 2 (finally get all his teeth in). So if it was less than 2 years, will you spill? I need a little bright spot.

:) To this day I LOVE milk! And, I turned out just fine (because our wonderful mother realized she was starving me). So the good news?? Michael will turn out wonderfully because you're a very aware mother too! I know it's not ideal, but I felt the need to comment since Michael and I do seem to have much in common!

How strange - Joey didn't gain enough between 2 & 4 months and it was suggested that we give him formula as well.
I'm cheap and he sleeps well enough so I am just pumping more for now, but when I pass the formula in the store I do eye it longingly....

Oh crud. I'm sorry. It is so disappointing when things don't go as planned as far as their feeding goes. The best advice I got was simply to not look at it as a failure on your part. Blame the kid :)

But really, he'll be fine, you'll be less stressed and it'll all work out. Promise.

I know the whole "breast is best" thing, but once I started supplementing with Katy, I felt like things got SO much easier. Like maybe she had been hungry for months. I hope that's the same for you, and please don't let the breastfeeding nazis make you feel bad about it.
